    Kid slides into base

Our goal is to provide campers, who have physical and intellectual challenges, a day camp that integrates learning basic baseball skills with a traditionally fun summer camp experience!

We will work on the fundamentals of hitting, throwing, catching, and running the bases, while also enjoying classic games like the water balloon toss during our breaks!

We are All About the Campers!

Our counselors are great baseball players, and even better people. We are all on the Varsity baseball team at The Potomac School, and are fully committed to ensuring that each camper has an entirely positive experience!

    About Us

    What Baseball Means to Us

We're Tim and Will Mellis, and we have loved playing baseball since we were five years old and took to the field in Kid-ball Baseball, followed by McLean Little League, Marucci Stars Travel baseball, and The Potomac School's baseball team. Tim is a sophomore at Dartmouth College, and Will is a senior at The Potomac School, and we have enjoyed playing on the Potomac School Varsity Baseball, Football, and Golf teams. Baseball has played a large role in our lives; it has taught us to appreciate the merits of hard work, dedication, sportsmanship, resilience, and above all, working and playing as a team.

Time Spent with Challenger Baseball, Coaching, and Tutoring

We have always enjoyed volunteering with and coaching young people. Of all of our experiences as life-long McLean Little-Leaguers, we can definitely say that the early mornings spent acting as a buddy with the Challenger League athletes stand out as highlights. This winter, Tim also enjoyed coaching a McLean Youth Basketball 8th grade team. Through the years, we have also volunteered with children from the organization "Second Story" and served as peer tutors in Potomac's Math Science Resource Center. Through all of these experiences, we have learned how to coach and tutor young people, leading with clear instruction, patience, encouragement, and a sense of humor.

Why We Want to Run This Camp

We are looking forward to running this camp, as a way to combine our love of sports and putting a smile on others' faces. The loss of our baseball seasons as a result of the pandemic helped us to better appreciate just how much it means to ourselves and others to be a part of a sports team. Baseball has the ability to bring us all together and provide an endlessly good time, and we want to share this with others, especially those who may have missed out on their recent Challenger season and have been stuck in the house for far too long! It's time to dust off our bats and play ball!
